Signed Margaret Armstrong binding design of a flowering topiary with a banner winding around its stem inside a decorated border in pale green and silver on brown linen weave cloth. Includes 152 black and white illustrations (52 new illustrations over the previous edition) by Marion Satterlee. A description of more than 450 varieties of wild flowers, classified by color. The second of two bindings Miss Armstrong created for the editions of this book; this binding being a structured but simultaneously fluid design whose silver elements immediately draw the eye. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt rereleased this book (retaining the Armstrong cover) in 1989. A very good + copy with Light soiling to the edges and occasional finger soiling to the text. GE 70. Scarce in this binding and in this condition.
