Color frontis. by Madeleine Lamare, 235 b/w photographic illustrations with 32 additional illustrations unique to this edition. Edited by the daughter of Julia Ward Howe (women's suffrage leader) to underscore the professional achievements of women whose work was exhibited in the Woman's Building of the World's Columbian Exhibition in 1893. Alice Morse was also the author of an article in this volume titled Woman Illustrators (pp. 89-100). The first edition was produced by Goupil & Co.; Boussod Valadon & Co., successors.
