This Gyles spine design was used first on the cover of Yeats' Poems (1899); t.e.g.This two volume set includes all of the poet's works up until 1907. The first volume contains his lyrical poetry and the second volume includes Yeats' first 5 plays in verse: "The Countess Cathleen"; "The Land of Heart's Desire"; "The King's Threshold"; "On Baile's Strand"; and "The Shadowy Waters".Volume I was released in 1906 (Wade 65) and this volume in 1907 (Wade 71). A very good set with faint rubbing to the spines and the extremities; Vol. II has a patch of staining to the cloth on the rear board near the upper and bottom edges . Vol. II also has a contemporary newspaper clipping describing a Percy MacKaye lecture on Drama at Brown University. The clipping has offset to the recto of the rfep and the verso of the rear fly leaf. Exceptionally Scarce with both volumes present.
