Grey cloth boards with titles and double fillet border in dark blue; titles on spine also in dark blue. 11 full page illustrations in two colors by Howard Chandler Christy with Arts & Crafts landscape decorations printed in red on every page by Bertha Stewart. A near fine copy in a near fine pictorial dust jacket by Howard Chandler Christy. Scarce in this condition. Howard Chandler Christy (1873 - 1952) was an illustrator famous for his “Christy Girl”, a society girl image similar to a “Gibson Girl”. He studied under William Merritt Chase and started his artistic career as a combat artist during the Spanish-American war. Later he moved to book and magazine line illustration and painted in his later years. She later worked as an interior designer and bookplate designer.
